Job Description

TITLE: Principal Database Architect

GENERAL FUNCTION: Completes work on major IT architecture projects. Provides integrated systems planning and recommends innovative technologies that will enhance the current system. This role will focus on developing the data architecture strategy for the enterprise across platforms (SQL, Oracle, and DB2). Candidate will have a solid background in DB2, Oracle, and SQL database technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Plays a key role as the technical architect for projects. Responsible for detailed technical architecture and design for very complex projects. • Translate business requirements and enterprises into long-term data architecture solutions, including logical, conceptual, and physical models • Acts as a technical expert addressing problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platform integration. • Develops project plans, work assignments, target dates and other aspects of assigned projects and communicates this information to senior management and the business unit. • Document technology roadmaps and the transition from the current architectural framework to target architecture of the future • Responsible for defining and maintaining best guidelines and standards for metadata, data, data modeling, and management • Strong foundation in DB2, SQL, and Oracle as well as ETL tools. • Advise technology and business groups on future technology options, outlining benefits, cost, risk, and capabilities • Interacts and consults with appropriate peer architects across the other IT LOBs and vendors/suppliers to understand application requirements and defines architectural components to meet those requirements. • Other duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Undergraduate degree, with 5 years of experience as an Database architect preferred and/or 10 years of service as a database (SQL, Oracle, or DB2) administrator.

Additional Required Skills: 1. Candidate should exhibit experience managing strong technical teams to major Database related accomplishments in support of Business centered Online Transaction Processing applications. 2. Candidate will have advanced knowledge of Relational Databases with an emphasis on the following technologies: a. Oracle 11g b. SQL Server 2008 c. DB2 Z/OS 3. Candidate should exhibit strong skills in team management as well as internal IT customer engagement. 4. Candidate should exhibit strong Problem determination skills with a history of Process Improvement along with Performance Monitoring and Capacity Planning.

Technical Skills: 1. Distributed Database Administrator skills are required for the Oracle, SQL and DB2 platforms. 2. Quest Foglight, Tivoli, or Omegamon Monitoring tool suite. (Application Tracing). 3. Strong Project Management experience is required. 4. Experience with Data Warehousing desired. 5. History of Change Leadership and Operational Excellence. 6. History of collaboration and partnership with the following Database vendors: a. Oracle b. IBM c. Microsoft

WORKING CONDITIONS: • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like. • Extended viewing of CRT screen.

Remuneration:  $120,000 to $125,000 per Year (Salary Depends on Experience)
